A Secure Communication Protocol for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Mavlink is a lightweight and most widely used open-source communication protocol for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Multiple UAVs autopilot systems support it, it provides bi-directional between the UAV Ground Control Station. The communications contain critical information about status basic control commands sent from GCS to GCS. In order increase transfer speed efficiency, does not encrypt messages. As result, vulnerable various security attacks such as Eavesdropping, GPS Spoofing, DDoS. this study, we tackle problem secure protocol. By leveraging packet’s vulnerabilities, research work introduces an experiment in which, first, packets are compromised terms of requirements based on our threat model. results show that insecure carried out successful. To overcome security, additional layer added An encryption technique proposed makes secure. encrypted using without affecting performance efficiency. validated speed, performance, efficiency compared literature solutions MAVSec benchmarked with original Our achieved have significant improvement over security.
